Those of you who know me well are aware of my disdain for titles. Nonetheless, I now have a title, President and CEO of myxMedia. It is an impressive title, but nothing more than a title if one fails to accept the wide-ranging responsibility, the responsibility of leading an organization forward in its mission. It is an important and almost daunting task, one that I humbly accept and one for which I greatly depend on support, your support.
In my first letter I wish to express thanks and motivate a challenge. First of all thanks, thanks to everyone that has helped us get off to a great start. Thanks to:
− Our Board for leadership, guidance and support,
− Our colleagues, that have joined in the cause,
− Our new alliances that share a similar concern for giving and improving the greater good,
− Our volunteers that turn plans into happenings,
− Our interns that work tirelessly though they’re not on the clock,
− Our community for having pride and taking part,
− And our artists for displaying such great works.
The Challenge
We have just begun. The doors are open and the opportunities are immense. But the needs are great. During our first year of operation we hope to begin providing needed grants and scholarships for students. Upgrade our facility and bring on at least on full time staff member, and facilitate and finance internships that are already filling a queue.
Our initial strategic plan is simple. We will apply for grants for startup funding. We will host events and fundraisers for operational funds and sell products and services to maintain our sustainability plan. You can help by supporting and promoting these measures. Tell people you know about a gallery where your purchase supports student achievement through scholarships. Tell people that they can make a difference by hosting their next event in an upscale urban gallery rather than a hotel or resort conference room. Tell people about our events and “fun” raisers, happenings where it is fun to give. Tell people to attend and support Second Saturdays. Tell people that there is a worthwhile organization that can offer training, workshops, and professional design services for non- profits and small community–based business. Tell people that all proceeds support our mission.
You have all made this dream a reality. Thank You! Now spread the word and demonstrate what word of mouth can do to cause change.
Sincerely,
Doug Wynn
President / CEO
